Teething Troubles: Soothing Little Gums

Ah, teething — that bittersweet milestone when your baby’s gummy grin starts to sparkle with tiny teeth… and your nights get a little less restful. If you’re in the thick of it, hang in there! Teething can be a tough phase, but with a few tips and a lot of love, you and your baby will get through it just fine.

What’s Going On?

Most babies start teething between 4 and 7 months. Those new teeth can cause sore gums, drooling, and a cranky mood. Totally normal, but not always fun — for anyone!

Soothe the Soreness

  • Chill out (literally): A cold teething ring or a clean, damp washcloth from the fridge can be a lifesaver. The cold helps numb the gums and reduce inflammation.
  • Gentle massages: Clean fingers work wonders! Lightly rub your baby’s gums to ease the discomfort.
  • Teething toys: Safe, BPA-free options are great for distracting and soothing.

Comfort is Key

Extra cuddles, rocking, and calm time can help when your baby’s feeling off. Sometimes all they need is your comforting presence.

Keep an Eye Out

A little fussiness is normal, but if your baby has a high fever, rash, or diarrhea, it might not just be teething so give your pediatrician a call to be sure.

You’ve Got This!

Teething can feel never-ending, but those little pearly whites are worth it. Take care of yourself too (coffee helps), and remember: you’re doing an amazing job.

Big hugs, lots of snuggles, and maybe a few frozen washcloths — that’s the teething toolkit. 💛
